Northeastern VS. RPI (Premed)

I visited northeastern and absolutely love the location and campus, but am debating whether it is worth going to for premed over RPI. Any thoughts? I REALLY would appreciate anyone's input on which is the better choice.

Do you want to be in Boston or Troy NY?

boston…but i was wondering if being there outweighs the programs at RPI

I don’t know about RPI but I did hear that if you are in premed and do well, you can escape the entrance exams because they have a recip with Tufts and you basically just transfer in.

Think you have to do REAL well though for the Tufts med school nod!!! Anyway, the schools seem different. 15,000 at NU vs 5000 student body at RPI. City size. NU is IN the city, not sure about PRI. What are you looking for? They are simular academically so on that point you can’t go wrong. Good luck with your choice!

Was curious about it so googled the program and found this link. Hope is helps you decide

[Tufts Medical School Early Assurance Program (MD)](http://www.northeastern.edu/prehealth/applying/tufts_ea_program/)

Are similar academically when it comes to pre med? I was thinking about applying to the tufts program, but if i don’t get in would it still be worth it to go to northeastern over rpi? I loved the campus and the city area, but am concerned about the level of academics at northeastern vs rpi, and which one would be better academically, or if they are similar in those regards.

Don’t get too excited about Tufts EA. It’s insanely competitive, you need to be a superstar applicant (not “good”, not “really good”, like extraordinary). I really don’t think Tufts should even be a factor in this discussion. So few applicants from each school get accepted per year that it’s a negligible advantage to neu premed. Sure, maybe you’ll be one of the like 3 people per year who get in, and if you do then great, but the odds are mostly against you.

I’ve written about being premed at neu a good dozen times over the past few years. I’m sure I have lengthy posts somewhere, which you can access via search button.
