Northeastern vs Villanova Finance

I know Villanova has a very highly ranked business school which I got into but I feel like Northeastern’s co-op program would really benefit me getting a job later on. Any advice?

Please help!

As mentioned, strictly on ranking/reputation, Villanova has a good edge.

Even with co-op, your job prospects in the end for both will be similar, and both are well-respected and rigorous programs. Is there a cost difference? Are you looking to work in any particular location after graduation?

I’m a Northeastern student (not business) so take this with a grain of salt, but one of the cool advantages of co-op is that you get to try out a bunch of different areas of your profession before graduation, which can help when it comes to deciding between offers come graduation. Graduating from either school, you’ll likely have choices between offers, so that can be useful.

There’s also the different socially and environmentally with co-op. People will be a bit more professionally focused at Northeastern. It depends on what you prefer there.

Two good schools, no bad choices, unless you’re taking on big debt for either.

Northeastern’s co-op programs are so strong because they tack on another year to your undergraduate. Villanova based on rankings is better but I do not know how strong their internships really are.

I choose Villanova as IMO it has the stronger b-school and you can always do internships over the summer. But if you prefer Northeastern, want the co-op experience, and love Boston then go there.

Do you or your parents have to take on loans for either of these?

@PengsPhils how is the social scene at northeastern? I want to focus on academics and all but I also like a good party

Like the rest of the school, the party scene is good but different. Personally I prefer it, but again, all preference. There’s not really any frat parties or the like, so it’s mostly dorm and apartment parties. It’s not hundreds of people in a feat house and a few kegs, it’s anywhere from 5-25 people in a dorm or apartment. First year, mostly dorms. After freshman year, you and when people you know start having apartments (on and off campus), you’ll find a good deal of apartment parties. I prefer it cause you get more of a chance to get to know people better rather than know more people, and I’m not a fan of the classic frat party.
