Northern vs. Southern Universities

I didn't meant to come across as saying you were an ******* ian kavanagh, just that with that comment, you came across as one, which does not mean that you actually are, just the way you appeared.

and Globalist, the New Yorkers on my hall have commented multiple times about how nice people are at school. =]

ariesathena , very helpful info
im now giving those "southern" schools a closer look

-- new yorker

hmm, soccerguy your words walk a fine line, but i admitt im a conceited arrogant new yorker *******, nothing im not willing to admit too, and about your anecdote in the south, that seems farfetched, and no it definatly wouldnt not happen here, but one can buy an umbrella for a buck. i got into tulane, but new orleans is different in my mind than the "south", but im looking to go to canada, so was immar

I live about 5 mines away from the Mason-Dixon Line. D.C. is defiantly south of it. And although I live below the Mason-Dixon Line (Maryland) I don’t really consider myself a southerner.

i wouldnt just say frats are bigger in the south. look at schools like Bucknell and Lehigh, not to mention Union, Dartmouth, Penn State, Cornell, etc.

also, i dont buy the whole "people are nicer in the south" theres jerks everywhere, and nice people everywhere. people in the south may be more polite, but a lot of it could be very fake. people in the north may be *******s, but at least they'll let you know when you first meet them

yea im from maryland too and dont consider it "southern" i think u can consider Southern VA and below "southern" i love the south tho my aunt lives in GA, people really are nicer!

I don't think Southerners are better people - but I think they are raised to be courteous and polite. I had a similar experience - trying to find the W&M law school - when a gentleman walked me through Colonial Williamsburg to it.

Conversely, when in New England, I had someone ask me where I was from, then say, "No, before that!... Really? You're too friendly to be from around here!"

Then again, the friendliness can be a bit much. Picture standing behind one person at the drugstore and waiting 10 minutes - because she and the clerk are chatting about their grandkids. ;)

I find southern women are much, much hotter.
:)
(or at least there is a higher hot/not proportion)
