Northwestern 2024 ED Deferred!

Hi Everyone:

My S was deferred from ED yesterday. Does someone have recent experience/knowledge about the process? I heard it is different than other college where the university place few applicants there that they have much better chance being admitted later?! At least this was the case ten years ago according to CC forum. If you have any information, please let me know. Thanks.

My daughter was deferred 5 years ago and was ultimately accepted. We heard the same comments that you heard. She kept her grades up, continued with her EC’s and kept in touch with her admissions officer. I think they really want to see your first semester grades of senior year. Anyway, good luck!

Getting deferred is nothing but applying to Regular Decision. Most universities won’t make a difference between a deferred and a student who is applying in RD.

My D20 was deferred. Her college counselors confirmed rumor that NU confirms a small percentage of applicants for RD pool. Keep up grades, ECs. A small advantage may be that since deferred applicants did apply ED, telling NU that they are first choice/more likely to accept an offer than someone who only applied RD. Fingers crossed.
