So northwestern is looking more and more appealing, partly because they offer a dual degree program between Weinberg and Bienen. I have two questions:
1)Will Ad-hoc majors be able to participate in this program?
2)I'm interested in both neuroscience and physics. Will neurobiology centered around neural networks be good for me or should I pursue an Ad Hoc major?
Thanks for all of the replies!

Couldn’t answer question 2, but I’m pretty sure that putting together an ad hoc major wouldn’t be any different from trying to complete a regular major in WCAS, as far as scheduling goes.

Ad Hoc from Weinberg has no effect on your participation in the Weinberg-Bienen double degree program at all. You don’t have to declare a major for a while in Weinberg, so frankly it doesn’t matter what you’re planning on doing, vis-a-vis the double degree. I just finished my third year as a Weinberg-Bienen double degree student and I know a handful of peers pursuing ad-hoc degrees on both sides.

Incidentally, I happen to know a guy from NU who graduated a couple years back with a degree in Integrated Sciences and Biology, concentrating in Neurobiology, and now does research for them downtown. While I can’t say for certain or talk any specifics, it seems as though that’s a major that you can really tailor to your specific interests. And of course, in the worst case scenario, an Ad-hoc is always a viable option if you get here and realize that the specific Neurobiology track isn’t exactly what you want.
