Curious if anyone has knowledge or experience with NU or similar institutions who only offer a BA and not a BS for a science field as NU does with its Neuroscience degree. I’ve seen this degree offered as a BA when it is an interdisciplinary program between two departments (Psychology and Biology) however this program is offered through NU’s Department of Neurobiology so I’m really perplexed as to why the curriculum doesn’t meet that of a BS?? Further, does anyone have experience with whether a BA in a science field is looked down upon compared to a BS when applying to graduate MS and/or PhD programs or med school? TIA!
I checked quickly and it seems that biology and chemistry degrees at NU are also BA, not BS! I suspect Weinberg only offers BA degrees and not BS. If this is the case, I do not see it negatively impacting you.
At some schools, the BA/BS distinction is more about foreign language and other course requirements outside of the major department.
