Northwestern Early Decision and SAT/ACT Tests - Please Help!

Hey there!

Ok, so. I have a 4.3 GPA and pretty solid extracurricular activities- that being said, Northwestern is my "pretty big reach" school. However, I am applying Early Decision but I NEED to improve my scores to have any shot. If I take the September 22 SAT (which I am), the scores will be back in time to apply for Early Decision November 1.

However, I am taking the October 22 ACT and the scores will be available November 8 at the earliest...but the ED deadline for Northwestern is November 1.

Can I still somehow send my ACT scores to Northwestern? Like, if I send my SAT score in my application and then get my ACT score and it is much higher, could I sent it past the Early Decision deadline? Would they add it to my file or will absoloutley no material be accepted after November 1st?

ALSO what confuses me is that on the website it says to take the SAT/ACT by "November test dates" in order to apply ED...but isn't that incorrect, seeing that I will be taking the October 22 ACT and will not recieve my score in time?

Help is greatly appreciated!

bump bump bump <3

Northwestern’s application deadline for ED is not its test date deadline. It takes through the Nov SAT test for ED (but for that one you should designate NW as a free send so it is sent as soon it is released). Your Oct ACT can arrive after Nov 1.

There is no sat in September. The sat starts up again in october

I’m a tad bit confused, the SAT is not offered in September. The first date this year is October 1st. Take it on that date. The ACT is offered next weekend, so I’m not sure why you decided to forgo taking it then. I would contact admissions directly just to make sure your October ACT scores will arrive in time, despite being released after the ED deadline.
