So I have been blessed with the ability to decide between these 3 awesome schools. Quickly, because this post could get long, I am from NJ and am interested in business/econ and am leaning towards consulting. I do not know much about IBanking and all that stuff, hope to learn more in college, but working 110 hour weeks doesn't really appeal to me all that much, although I'm still open to anything.

Money will be a bit of a factor, but my dad still has to file taxes so I don't have Fin Aid yet, and likely won't for a while.

Anyway, I was just wondering what thoughts you guys may have on any or all of these schools and why you choose one school over another. I have visited NU and will be visiting GU again. I love the DC and Chicago area, but I am not a huge fan of the cold. Still yet to visit Ann Arbor - not sure if I will be able to. These 3 schools seem so similar in so many ways that it's making this a bitterly sweet decision. IE both have top sports, academics, internship opportunities, great locations, etc.

I really appreciate any input you guys may have! Thanks in advance!!!

PS, I have posted this in the other forums as well!

You’re out of state for UMich, so I’m willing to bet that cost across the board will probably be comparable.

At the end of the day, I think that you’ll have the potential to make a career coming out of any of your choices, but NU or Georgetown might be a better pick. Georgetown might be better for economic research and consulting, due to its location, and NU might (or might not, I’m not as sure) be better for management consulting and finance. That’s an off-the-cuff statement though, take it with a grain of salt.

All great schools. If you get accepted pre-admit to Ross, that would be hard to turn down. If you don’t, know that
getting into Ross is very difficult. You apply after your freshman year and need about a 3.8 to get in. The opportuniites at Ross are incredible in terms of internships and job search if you do well. Michigan will be about 7 - 8 k cheaper than NU.

These three schools are very different environments. I’d encourage you to pick the school that fits you best. Michigan is a big school. I know many kids who have gone there and each of their experiences was different based on their individual personalities. There is great athletics, a big Greek community as well as many, many student groups. NU and Georgetown are a nice size; you get Big 10 athletics at NU; a more conservative environment at Georgetown. DC is a great city.

The CoA for NU would be around $65k while for UMich would be around $53k. It depends on the financial package. UMich does not offer much for oos student while NU is need based. So it can go either way.

billcsho - still am waiting on financial aid, wont be for a couple weeks.

And it pretty much seems that since there is no real consensus here - as in I haven’t seen an overwhelming response for one school, that they would all offer me similar opportunities. And as great as it is to have this choice between these schools where I really don’t think I can go wrong with any, it still is stressful having to make it. Hopefully, I will fall in love with GU next week, or absolutely hate it, so that I can officially be done with college decisions

It won’t go wrong with either one. Just wait for the FA to decide. My D’s FA package is very close to the NPC figures. So you may have a second look on that.
