Northwestern Fall 2021 Transfer

well last year, they released the may 15th batch on may 15th (Friday), so it could be Friday as well tbh

Sorry, May 15 was on a Friday and they also heard back on a Monday, the 18th! Good luck everyone!

Gee I really don’t want to wait until next week. But we’ve already come this far.

Transfer szn is so bad on the mental health lol, cant wait for all of this to end

RIGHT like honestly i wish there were not waves cause its sort of unfair when they dont review in order of when they were received. it really plays tricks on ur mind about whether ur qualified or worthy. i feel like it would have been better if we just had to submit our apps earlier and then all got them back at the same time

literally, like just say my decision is going to come out on May 15th, then I dont spend the whole month of April anxiously waiting lol

Hey guys! I obviously already submitted my app, but this one question has bothered me. For Common App - the personal statement - it seemed to be just like senior year where you write a creative essay as opposed to “Why are you transferring” prompt. Did most of you guys just submit a creative essay using one of the common app prompts or submit an essay of your own, which outlined the reasons you wanted to transfer. Lmk if this doesn’t make sense- just freakin’ a bit because I just submitted an essay answering one of the common app prompts and did not talk about transferring at all except a little bit in the “Why NU” essay.

First, I don’t think you should worry about this! I wrote the same kind of essay. I think NU clearly wanted us to submit a Common App essay according to the prompts given by Common App. At least that’s the instructions provided in NU’s transfer application on Common App. Therefore, you should not freak out, for if NU did want us to write a “why transfer” essay, it should clearly as for that as do so many other schools.

I submitted a personal statement more in line with a creative essay type. I think that’s what NU asked for. If not, it think it’s NU’s fault for not providing clear guidelines.

Thanks for the insight! Fingers crossed that good news is coming soon for many of us

They did not expect a why transfer essay dw. I wrote to their panel like two months ago asking the same thing and they said that you could write your reasons for transferring in the additional info section but that it is not needed

hey! i did pretty much the same thing so dw you’re not alone :,) i wrote a creative personal essay that had nothing to do with why i wanted to transfer and only very briefly mentioned my reason for transferring in the “why nu” supplement

Northwestern has changed its guaranteed decision date from May 15 to the end of May on its website.

where? I still see this : “Students who apply by March 15 are more likely to receive a decision from us earlier, but we will give full consideration to all applications, with a guaranteed decision by May 15.”

I believe last year they also said that they would have a guaranteed decision by May 15, but people heard all the way until Monday, May 18th.

“Students who apply by March 15 are more likely to receive a decision from us earlier, but we will give full consideration to all applications, with a guaranteed decision by the end of May.”
On its web page titled “Transferring to Northwestern”
