Transferring into Northwestern After Sophomore Year?

I'm a sophomore at Newhouse (Syracuse) right now, and I'm looking into transferring into Medill at Northwestern. I know it's a very competitive school, and I don't exactly have the strongest stats, but I was hoping someone would be able to chance me.

College GPA: 3.494
Extracurriculars: school newspaper, school tv station, worked since freshman year
SAT: 2130 (Math-730 / Reading - 630 / Writing - 770)
High School GPA: 3.6

I'm counting on excellent recommendations from my professors. I heard Northwestern places a lot of importance on essays, so I'll work with my professors to write good ones.

If you need other stats, please let me know.

I know my GPAs are pretty low, but I didn't do as well as I had hoped my freshman year in college because I had trouble adjusting. My first semester GPA during my sophomore year has increased since then, so I was hoping the improvement would be looked upon favorably.

I was wondering if anyone had experiences transferring into Medill/Northwestern. I'm still on-the-fence about it since I'll be a junior, and I'm thinking the transition won't be easy. So any thoughts?

I hate to break it to you, brah, but transferring into Medill your sophomore year from within Northwestern is nearly impossible. Transferring into Medill your sophomore year from another university could be that descriptor without the adverb.

Hey shkim! I stumbled upon your post…

A few quick questions for you…

Why did/do you want to transfer out of Newhouse?

What attracted/attracts you to Medill?

What does Medill have that Newhouse does not?

Lastly,

Did you end you end up transferring out? (I saw you posted in January, it is now May)

Your post just caught my eye…and I’m curious about your thoughts.
