Northwestern HPME

Hey guys!!!

I am currently a sophomore in Illinois. I am really interested the the HPME program.

So far, I have taken 5 AP courses, including this year and am planning on doing research and volunteering over the summer.

Do you guys have any suggestions to increase my chances of admission?

Also, does anyone know how to get medical research over the summer (mainly in Chicago).

The U of Chicago School of Medicine has programs for high school students.

That is a super competitive program. I would say the best thing is to avoid becoming overly attached to it, because admission is so unlikely. Just try your hardest to get perfect/near perfect academic stats and find co-curricular and extracurricular pursuits that are constructive and you are passionate about - and execute.

Medical research is tough to get as a high school student. Check out college research or summer programs that are science-y and have their program costs covered - those are usually the well-regarded programs.

Isn’t the acceptance rate less than 0.1% for that?
