So last week (about 5 days ago) I received an email from Northwestern saying that I could schedule an interview if I wanted to. Although I read the email and knew I wanted to interview, I didn’t register for one immediately because I was in another country for winter break and I was busy packing up my luggage for the trip back home. The trip was almost a day and I didn’t have access to the internet while I was in the plane. When I arrived home, I remembered the email and had it on the back of my mind but I first wanted to discuss it with my school principal before scheduling (I’ve never had an interview before so I’m kind of scared). However, when I went to their website to register for the interview it said the deadline had passed. Apparently they had a deadline yesterday (I only missed it by 5 hours).
Will the fact that I won’t get interviewed affect my chances of getting in?
Only to the extent that it reflects a lack of interest on your part. If you have assembled & submitted an appropriately sincere application packet, then you should be fine. RD is an uphill battle as the acceptance rate for ED is significantly higher.
You had sufficient notice and adequate time in which to reply, but you chose not to do so because you wanted to speak with your school principal before committing to an interview time. That was a choice that you made.
Please don’t be concerned. There are not enough alumni to interview all who wish to be interviewed, so your acceptance does not rest on an interview. Hopefully you have demonstrated your interest in and your understanding of NU in other ways. My D is a jr and did not interview.
