Well, my dream school at the moment is Northwestern (Possibly Bienen School of Music). My other top choices are NYU (Tisch, but it will be very hard), Vanderbilt (Blair School of Music), UMichigan (for musical theatre) and UChicago. If you can't tell, I'm planning on studying vocal performance/theatre/musical theatre/music. Something in there. Hah. And, by the way, I'm a white female from a moderately large town in Iowa. Woot.

I know that a lot of my chances, particularly, depend on auditions, but what should I do to better my chances, apps-wise?

Just improve your test scores. That's it for Northwestern, Vandy, and NYU. Chicago is always a crapshoot.

Obviously, you show a dedication to music and that's really important to have ECs that show something you're dedicated to.

You might want to see if Rice University's Shepherd School of Music interests you. I know a recent graduate from that school who majored in vocal performance and she had a great experience there. Houston's theatre scene is second only in size to NYC so that would also be a big plus for you.

well a 30 is pretty good, so dont worry too much, a 31 would be more than enough for them, and your gpa is good, so those schools are good matches/high matches for you, i dont know how good you are at music, which will make a big difference, but youre on the right track for acceptance at all of those places

chance me back at
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/635725-chance-me-i-will-chance-back.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/635725-chance-me-i-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

A 30s good enough to get you into NYU and Vandy. The other two are a little harder to tell.

If you are interested in Chicago, play up your musical accomplishments and interest. It might help you there, particularly because they are building a massive arts center and appear to be interested in gifted and motivated musicians. Pay attention to your essays as well. Otherwise, you definitely have a shot.
