Any thoughts on Northwestern’s poly sci or govt programs in general, comparing it to Berkeley and Georgetown? All three are pretty strong in that major, Gtown has the DC advantage, Northwestern the overall university is stronger.
This is a great discussion, i wanted to ask this same question. Any takers?
As a high school student, I’ve been to GT over the summer for 5 weeks straight, and the dorm life is very mediocre I must say. The food - lets’ just say I had to get out of the campus for real hot meals. Great thing is, as an Asian - there were plenty of food to choose from near Dupont Circle but pricy compared to California.
Getting back to Pol Sci…the two professors I had over the summer were hands down in awe, “awesome” - both were very young but could analyze the political scene where I had many “a ha” moments. However keep in mind every other student there is a son/daughter of some high political figure and so I knew I was competing with the top 1%, so it was very difficult to compete for an A in two poli sci classes in summer.
Campus/dorm life overall at GT is pretty small and not to mention they don’t even have a cool library like Duke or Notre Dame, but at the end it was the professors who reassured me that my passion in pol sci/public policy/immigration injustice will only be harnessed by others who share the same compassion. So yes I will be applying to GT for sure, but let’s see how that goes…
I’d choose Gtown or Berkeley. Where do you want to study? Bay area, DC or cold country?
