Northwestern prestige?

can you rank these schools in order of prestige withing academic circles? northwestern, washu, johns hopkins, or duke?
i got in these schools and was wondering which has most prestige. forget about graduate schools, just the undergraduate. (im probably going to major something in biology or chemistry and do pre med)

does it really matter?

i dont see there being any question as to YOUR philosophy as to whether it matters or not anywhere on the OP’s first post

yea sorry it does matter :stuck_out_tongue:
call me shallow but it kinda does. any answer would be great

um, sorry, but in terms of prestige, they are all about even. Especially for undergraduate.

If you were talking about graduate:

Johns Hopkins
Northwestern
Duke
WashU

In terms of undergrad, I would say for premed bio specifically:

Johns Hopkins
WashU
Northwestern
Duke

But, they are all amazing schools so congrats!!

^But for chemistry, Northwestern.

In General:
northwestern, johns hopkins, duke
washu,

For Bio:
Hopkins, Duke
NU
WashU

For Chem:
NU, Hopkins
Duke
WashU

dancing on the head of a pin. your own personal presentation will count for more at that level.

what happens if you put upenn in here?

well im gonna decide between johns hopkins or northwestern. i know johns hopkins has a phenomenal premed program. but so does northwestern. my question is, would i be at a disadvantage to jhu undergrads for med school admissions if i go to NU? im kinda leaning towards northwestern right now (a little more fin aid)

If financial aid is important to you, go to the school that will give you the least debt.

Duke is considered the most prestigious by most measures. But for premed what trumps all are the grades and the MCAT scores.

Premed Prestige:

 1. Hopkins
 2. Duke
 3. NU
 4. WUStL

What about Berkeley vs Northwestern? English major?

At Duke pratically half the student body is pre-med, no lie.

Do they all stay that way, is another issue entirely.

Prestige wise I would say they are all about the same. Personally I extremely dislike WasU.

Premed at Hopkins is a kiss of death. Very cut throat atmosphere and Baltimore…?? I think Northwestern is a better choice. Evanston is beautiful and Chicago is just a short train ride. Duke is great , especially if you are into frats, sports and do not mind a mediocre, impoverished town where the “wrong people” live on the other side of the railroad tracks (literally)-Durham.

MyOpinion, premed at Hopkins is definitely not cutthroat, but of course, I wouldn’t expect you to know considering you don’t go there and only base your “opinion” off of hearsay. It’s challenging to be premed at Hopkins, but just about every student I know works together and truly comes together to face the challenges of a rigorous and well-rounded Hopkins education. Of course, if challenge isn’t your thing, maybe you should attend Failure Community College :)

Baltimore is a wonderfully charming city, and it’s a shame people like you don’t get to visit it. But then again, with your negative attitude, I’m glad that Baltimore and Johns Hopkins doesn’t have to see the likes of you.

Watch the biases and the opinions, especially since you have never even stepped foot on Hopkins or, most likely, in the nice areas of Baltimore BESIDES the Inner Harbor :)

And fyi: Duke is definitely not for everyone. You should go to Duke if you enjoy:

1) Wild parties
2) peer pressure to go Greek
3) going greek
4) Name Recognition based mostly on big sports :)

but yeah, Duke is a phenomenal school in its own right. Just saying.
