My son, who attends a top London (British) school, will be visiting the NU campus this month and will likely apply. Does anyone know any British-raised people (either Brits or expat Americans) who have attended NU? Did they like the school, and was the adjustment hard? Thanks, Londondad

One of my son’s suite-mates is from London. He says that NU does a nice ISO (International Student Orientation), including a shopping trip. My son also reports that he does not recall his friend having any adjustment problems and/or complaining.

If your son plays ultimate, or rugby, and he joins one those clubs at NU, the adjustment will be even easier, because he will have an immediate extra group of friends outside his dorm.

Good luck, and PM me if you have follow up questions.

It’s probably colder in Chicago than in London during the winter. But I grew up in Hong Kong and I didn’t find it a huge deal.

Unlike most other places in the US, Chicago/Evanston is pretty walkable with relatively good public transportation. It’s not comparable to London but the adjustment wouldn’t be as big as if you were in most other places.

Nugradad/Sam, Thanks for the helpful comments.
