Hi everyone!

I'm an RD applicant to the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and a prospective International Relations/East Asian Studies double major!

I'm not sure if this has been addressed in previous threads, but does anyone know if the Northwestern supplement of 300 words is a soft or hard word limit? My supplement is currently at 450 words and I'll try to cut it down to 400 words, but I don't know if I can get it down to 300 words without cutting out some extremely crucial information.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I think its a soft limit, but in general and out of courtesy to the admissions people who have to read thousands of these things it’s general more favorable to stick to the limit if possible. NU knows the limit is short and they really just want the hear the essence of why you want to attend, more than a whole creative essay with lots of figurative language. Then again, if you really need those words to truly sell and express yourself then go ahead, your the best judge of that! Goodluck!

@Heisenbergyk Thank you so much! I’ll do my best to shave the essay down to 300 words!
