Actually Concerto, NYU is slightly more expensive than NU or USC.

The estimated cost of attending NYU Tisch is $58,000/year. The estimated cost of attending Northwestern is $53,000. I could not find USC’s cost of attendance details on their website, but I am fairly certain it costs roughly as much as Northwestern.

[NYU Office of Financial Aid](<a href=“Financial Aid and Scholarships”>Financial Aid and Scholarships)

[Northwestern University - Undergraduate Financial Aid](http://ug-finaid.northwestern.edu/topics/prospective/overview.html#CostofAttendance)

Either way, attending one of those schools to study film is definitely expensive, regardless of which school one decides to go for. However, Northwestern can give good need-based aid. NYU and USC could potentially do the same.

You should also check out Wesleyan University. Even though it is a LAC, it has a well respected Film program and LACs can sometimes give good need-based aid.

I also recommend applying to a cheaper alternative, such as Florida State or UT-Austin in case those the private universities do not give any aid. FSU and UT cost roughly $35,000-$40,000.
