It seems that Cornell does not have biomedical engineering undergraduate degree. If for this major, it is better going to NU.

Colene you are the most insecured person who jump to every threads to say others are insecure. Too funny.

People are trying to let OP know that all factors considered, Cornell is a better deal - put money and academics into consideration.

What did you contribute in this thread to help the OP? Nothing. Try to bring your help to him before you confront anyone.

For the record, 2Daswell, your posts are probably the most insecure things I’ve ever seen. If those links have anything to do with your college decisions or perception of Cornell, for shame. You’re one of the reasons I can’t take Cornell seriously.

^
I guess you never said anything good about Cornell before - according to your posts. You had no business with Cornell. No one really cares if you take Cornell seriously as long as her peer schools do.

You are being ignorant. I feel the same way about your posts as oldblueeyes does and I’m a student at Cornell.
If I go to another school’s forum and I see this sort of post from someone, it will actually make me respect the school a lot less. It’s like how Andy from the office keeps saying “Ever heard of Cornell? It’s in the ivy league” - he’s a caricature of ivy league elitists for being shallow and insecure - especially those who just go to the school and rely on their school names instead of their achievements to show how they’re impressive individuals (thank god most cornell students have a sense of humor, can handle the joke, and accept the show for how it is). I’m really hoping that you are not a current student at Cornell.

^
Andy Bernard isn’t a shot at the Ivy League; he’s a shot at Cornell specifically, as it is perceived as being the worst one. Dwight Schrute said one episode that he is applying to Dartmouth instead, “because it is a far superior school in almost every conceivable way.”

In 30 Rock, Tracy Jordan refuses to give the commencement speech at Cornell: “Tracy Jordan doesn’t do safety schools!”

Of course these are just shows.

This is getting really off topic. Shows or not, I do care if someone makes a direct shot at my school just for the heck of it.

Dwight says it just to tick off Andy (being the obsessed person that he is and having wasted his time at school to just do singing), and yeah, it’s pretty funny.

The 30 rock one comes off as more direct. I would actually care a little more about that one; it comes off as a lot more abrasive to me. Then again, that reminds me to be a little more forgiving sometimes - we have a lot to learn about caring about this kind of thing from Yale, which allowed safetyschool.org to direct to their own site.

As for the selectivity thing, some of our schools in Cornell aren’t so selective (even though they are already pretty darn selective), but big deal. You apply to your program because it’s something you are interested in and you know your job prospects, your financial situation, etc. Cornell is a renowned institution that gives an amazing education across many fields and that’s what should be what the applicants should know and care about. This has been debated many, many, times - for those who care, use the search button and look back at the derogatory threads Saugus has made and what we have said in return.

Of course, Saugus is all grown up now and knows how to be a mature poster, given how relevant and how non-provocative his last post was.

I’m just saying that if you really want to get into this nasty discussion in every thread, I’ll make it happen for you.

They’re just comedies. Of course they don’t mean actually mean anything, but they ARE indicative of some people’s perceptions. Look at Jack Donaghy from 30 Rock. He went to Princeton and Harvard Business School to symbolize his truly top-notch education. He’s always talking about Princeton just like Andy from The Office is, but Andy comes across as an incompetent braggart while Donaghy comes across as successful.

Mr. Burns from the Simpsons went to Yale, another powerhouse of elite education.

It’s just a fact. Most people are going to respect Cornell, but HYP always draws more respect, and the elitists or pretend-elitists are going to bash on Cornell out of the eight schools. Brown too. (Brian from Family Guy went to Brown.)

Not that any of this is even relevant to Cornell vs Northwestern, and it doesn’t even matter. Lynette from Desperate Housewives (I don’t watch; just heard this) went to Northwestern and wound up running a pizza restaurant.

So your choice, OP, paper company vs pizza store…

The Andy Bernard as a Cornell grad comes from the fact that three of the other actors on the Office (Jim, Kelly, can’t remember the third) are Ivy league grads…it’s in all probability their shot at Cornell.

Cornell was referenced in American Pie… I don’t care how good any other school is that’s the ultimate win right there.

lmao, Northwestern was referenced in American Pie too…

There are many fictitious Cornellians - it’s just Andy Bernard and the dude from 30 rock are the one that gets mentioned the most because they come off as most controversial. Take Mitchell Pritchet for example.

Honestly, to OP, at this point just leave this thread and do some research on your own. I feel like this is how many threads end up around here - it’s a naturally tendency.

^
Funny, “Andy Bernard” analogy was completely opposite of what my point is, you need to clear your mind.

Cornell didn’t claim Yale, Princeton, or Brown to be her peers, those schools claims Cornell to be their peer. You got it exactly backward.

Even after these days that I was away, what did you contribute in this thread to help the OP? Nothing.

Thanks, that gravedigging post was so pointless that it made me laugh.

OP, cornell is a better school overall.

^inflammatory poster alert. Run from the flames while you still can.
