Northwestern vs. Boston College Honors

My top two choices are Northwestern and the Boston College Honors program. I’m not able to visit either school, so I have to decide without ever seeing the actual places or meeting the people… I intend to do pre-med, and major in English (possibly). I would appreciate it if anyone can give me advice not only about Northwestern’s and BC’s academics but maybe the atmosphere, the student body, and the faculty. Thanks so much!!

NU has a 80+ percent acceptance rate for pre-med
I don’t know BC honors pre-med acceptance rates…

BC’s pre-med acceptance rate is like 75%, from what I hear. Comparable to NU’s.

My D is chosing between these exact same schools. We visited BC in Jan for early admit day, and went to there pre-med program. We are going to Wildcat days 4/27. I can tell you about BC and our impressions. The premed program is open to everyone. You are given a premed advisor (along with your regular one), who will guide you thru the process from day one. Advising you to get your HCRE (health care related experience), help with the app process, interviews, essays, everything. The stat’s that BC touted were pretty phenominal, and if you truly care about going to med school, and put the effort forth (grades, etc), You will get there. I got to believe the NU is similar, so I guess well see in a few weeks. I think for my daughter, it comes down to fit. She loved the fact that there is Div I football, basketball, etc. The campus is small, and close to Boston and tons of other college campuses. The dorms are nice, the food was pretty good too.

So far, my choice would be BC (even though it’s not my choice), probably because we had a great visit, saw alot of potential BC students, and felt like it fit. Most people would tell you NU was more “prestigous”, but I think you pick the place based on atmosphere. I have heard that NU revolves a bit more around the Greek system, which there is not one at BC.

Tough choice not going there, hopefully you can get a feel for the campus’s thru this board.
