Boston College or Northwestern?

I will be majoring in bio at NU or biochem at BC, both premed and possibly a spanish 2nd major or minor. i know NU is more prestigious and all that jazz, but im concerned about the social/nightlife part of it where as i know i can find it at BC and i want an all around “college experience.” But ya im really confused about where i should go so convince me please! Why Boston College?! or why not?!

I’m sure someone will be able to provide you with more information, but I am looking at the two schools as well for transfer and from what I’ve gathered, BC will provide you with an incredible traditional college experience. It’s proximity to Boston is also something that you can take advantage of. It’s academic reputation might not exactly equal Northwestern’s, but the kids who go there are, for the most part, smart and do take their academics seriously.

I don’t know nearly as much about NU, but from what I’ve been told Northwestern’s proximity to Chicago is something I’ve heard is burdensome, but the town the campus borders is supposed to be nice. Apparently the campus gets divided on some line between greek life and artistic individuals, too (I don’t get what this entails, though). At Northwestern you will still have a ton of elements of the traditional and pretty incredible college experience but the school doesn’t have the same level of unifying spirit that you might find at BC–especially on game days.

I think that if you make the choice to attend BC you won’t be disappointed. Boston is an incredible city to take advantage of (more so when you’re 21 than when you aren’t, but it’s still pretty cool) and you will be at a campus with academically motivated students. The academic caliber assumed to be present at Northwestern will be lacking at BC and I’m not sure what their biochem program is like, but you will learn something I’m sure and be able to do so with a wholesome college experience, too.

Hopefully this was a little helpful, and hopefully somebody else can provide you with more concrete information. Now I have to go figure out what I’m going to do if I have to make this decision in a few weeks, too…
