Northwestern vs Columbia SEAS

Hey,

I am a current mechanical engineer at Northwestern and got accepted into Columbia SEAS. The reason I applied for transfer was that I wanted to switch my major to Applied Physics, about which I'm starting to have doubts.

Things is that I don't know what field [engineering vs biz world] I want to get into.If I end up doing engineering, I really want to get involved in the automotive world.

If I end up pursuing Applied Physics will I still be able to go to grad school and pursue Automotive Engineering? [kinda crazy but just in case...]

Also can anyone shed light on what engineering firms recruit at Columbia? I'm not necessarily looking for engineering positions, just engineering firms.

Will having a engineering degree from Columbia close doors in the engineering world that NU provides me?

Just as a reference point, a few well known companies who've recruited MechE's at NU are Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Baxter, Exxon, GE etc.

All replies will be greatly appreciated :)
