Those are excellent options you have and can’t go wrong in either case.
For the others, my son was WL at GaT and they sent an email that their WL has 4900 people on it which is up from 4,000 something last year. That is insane. Purdue for CS before my son declined had posted something somewhere saying that they were having a big yield and were not going to be taking transfers for next year’s class and were still trying to manage their class sizes for the fall in terms of keeping them small. After being postponed in the EA round at Mich mine was accepted in the big round the same day NU released decisions in late March. We think he may have been the only one accepted in that round from our school. He did write the ECI. He also sent an update to NU but it was most likely after decisions were already finalized. That said, it seems like GaT, Purdue, UIUC, Madison, Michigan, Texas - schools like that are having huge yields. And that a lot of kids that normally get into Ivies (he’s heard a lot of stories in the UM group and it’s clear here and happened to him as well) didn’t. I think those schools are the beneficiaries. That said, I wonder what is going to happen then with those waitlists including NU. He’s pretty much ruled out GaT even if they offer him a spot now, and that leaves UNC which I’m sure he won’t jump from Michigan, and NU which is much weaker in Engineering and CS than Michigan but since we live in Chicago it would be an easy switch if he decides. But, I’m hoping he doesn’t switch as he is excited about Michigan and settling in, housing, looking at classes, meeting kids, etc. It’s hard for everyone. That said, same goes for all of you. If you have an option consider that and start to get exciting and make plans. NU’s email today said they don’t plan to do anything until May 3 after commitment day. There will be a few lucky ones. I wouldn’t be surprised if their list were huge and maybe they will reveal it then but for those that do get off, fantastic!! It’s been a rough year for many, but everything happens for a reason!!
Good luck and congrats to everyone, and @gherman, again fantastic choices. We loved Wash U, it reminded me of NU, although my son didn’t like it, I would’ve loved for him to have applied there. I would go there in a minute.
