but it seems like everyone else who was accepted is.
I really want to go to Amherst but will I feel like the odd man out?

My twin and I both enjoy sports but neither has played a varsity sport in HS nor are recruited (obviously lol).

I am the anti-athlete…I don’t have a problem with sports, but I honestly do not know the rules to football…and yet I very likely will go to Amherst next year…it should be fine for us all.

I don’t think you would be an odd-man out at all. I think that Amherst does have a lot of athletes, yes, but a lot of people who even mention, “Oh, I play softball” only play casually for fun. That’s generally the impression I get from Amherst - a lot of people play around on different teams and clubs because the school is small and they try to encourage students to get involved, but that doesn’t mean everyone is a cutthroat athlete. But it may give an impression that everyone is playing sports!

For example, on my intro in the Amherst Facebook group, I mentioned I play soccer, but really I haven’t been on a field in five months and I don’t even know if I would play at Amherst! I will see what I feel like when I get there. So over the internet you might get the impression that I’m an athlete, whereas that’s definitely not my focus.

Is there club baseball at Amherst (i.e. hardball…on big diamond) or only softball?

scocious, the Amherst Athletics page lists softball as an intermural spring sport. There is neither baseball nor softball listed as a club sport.
