Boston University
Rutgers (New Brunswick)
Franklin & Marshall (Grandfather legacy/great uncle legacy & I'm going on an interview)
Columbia University (I know full Professor who's writing a letter)
CUNY Honors @ Queens College (dad legacy & two professors I work for are retired chair people of it)
George Washington University
American
NYU
Maybe applying to UChicago (dream school) but I doubt I could get in. =/
Barnard

Thanks!

Your ECs are great but your standardized test scores are lacking for the top colleges.

many of the OPS picks are reasonable for her SAT score.

the only ones I see out there are:
Columbia
NYU (kinda)
UCHICAGO
BU (kinda)

idk about barnard.

What does OPS mean? I'm really sorry, I suck at acronyms.

1MX meant "OP's [picks]" as in "Original Poster", the first poster, you.

This is what I think...

Boston University-MATCH
Rutgers (New Brunswick)-MATCH
Franklin & Marshall (Grandfather legacy/great uncle legacy & I'm going on an interview)- I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THIS SCHOOL, BUT SOUNDS LIKE THE LEGACY COULD EASILY GET YOU IN
Columbia University (I know full Professor who's writing a letter)- REACH, BUT IF YOU RAISE YOUR SATS, IT SHOULD GO DOWN TO ONLY A SLIGHT REACH
CUNY Honors @ Queens College (dad legacy & two professors I work for are retired chair people of it)-MATCH I GUESS
George Washington University-MATCH
American-MATCH
NYU-SLIGHT REACH
UChicago-REACH
Barnard- MATCH

Silentscholaris: Thank you. I'm a retard when it comes to common sense sometimes.

1MX: Wow, you think? A friend of mine posted on here a while back and got burned..a lot. I was honestly expecting you guys to be like REJECT everywhere...

Aznhelljumper: Other than simple scores, what else do you think would help me? I'm planning on taking the ACT and retaking the SAT...

Profs can't even get their own kids in. Columbia is not in range.

Somehow, I'll be able to sleep fine tonight.

Anyone else?

I agree, Columbia is WAY out of your reach. And I'd caution against Barnard as a match, their middle fifties are almost identical to Columbia College's, a good chuck of the Barnard class was rejected by Columbia.

GW, American, Franklin & Marshall, and Rutgers are all good choices. You've got two/three questionable schools, which you seem to know are questionable and a lot of really sensible ones. Great job on assembling your list!

Thank you both for your input. =]

As others said, Columbia is out of reach. You just don't have the academic profile. The only thing that will marshal you into UChi would be excellent essays for their pool, are you up to it? The other schools seem in reach for you with NYU and Barnard being your attainable reaches. You're right up the ally for BU which is good for you so I'd say it's a high match.

I'm going to have quite interesting essays. I'm not even going to give the topic away. Let me just say: It might be a first. =] I'm a good short story writer and I'm not particularly concerned about the essays to be quite honest. The rest of the (long) apps...and the financial stuff.

I'm very happy to hear that you guys think that my reaches are attainable. =] Also NYU seems to like my school despite the fact that most people decline it because it's so expensive... BU is my realistic goal-school and I'm very happy to hear that you guys think it's a good match for me.

Oh! I forgot to mention--my recommendation letters are gonna blow their minds. ;D My history teacher (I'm going for a history major) is writing my letter...after I got a 97 in his APUS class. It was tough but I'm really proud. <3

Thank you! Anyone else?

I agree with what the others have said: you have a few reaches, some more realistic than others, but you clearly realize they're reaches, and you also have a good number of schools that are well within your reach.

Thank you for taking the time to post here. =]

Anyone else?

colleges are so unpredictable.

my friend was WAITLISTED at GW, but was accepted at USC (CA) and GTOWN

I definitely agree. I know people who graduated this year who thought they were definitely in but got rejected.

I just can't for it to all be over. lol. Fast foward to July '08 anyone?

you should raise your SAT scores and you might have a chance at UChicago.

I'm definitely going to try for it. Although compared to most people at CC, I have a low SAT, I significantly raised my writing from my previous PSAT score. I hope to do the same for my CR. I'm extremely creative and I'm sure that will made clear. I might be applying EA to UChicago regardless of what you all say.

I absolutely love the fact that Chicago IS academic. I wouldn't want otherwise. The atmosphere is exactly what I want.
