98% of the time I am a first honor student. I am in all honors classes with the exception of one AP class. I did pretty good last marking period - I received first honors with my overall average being a 97. This marking period I have struggled quite a bit. I currently have a few hundreds, two 93s (that probably will drop because I’m really struggling) and an 88 in my AP class which I think I can bring up to a mid-90. To top it all off, we are having mid-terms next week which I ALWAYS struggle with so I feel as though my grades are going to drop even more! What can I do to bring my grades up? I am so stressed & I also have to stay after school a few days for an SAT class so I will have LESS time to study, get my hw done, & wind down. Please help!
Also, will having one not-so-great marking period hurt my chances of getting into a good college?
I am really struggling with Algebra
First of all, your grades are acceptable as they are right now (although you did say they might drop).
Second of all, strategies to doing well in your courses will vary greatly depending on the course in question. For math (like your Algebra class) and physical sciences, practice problems help automate the problem-solving process and help commit steps to solving problems to memory. For English and Social Studies courses, there tends to be a great deal of writing involved. If this is acceptable/allowed, I suggest that you ask your teachers to glance at your writing assignments before you turn them in. They can point out glaring flaws in your writing, and if they are feeling nice enough, even offer you suggestions for improvement.
