Not going to orientation?

Due to the limited slots and scheduling, it seems that I cannot attend the orientation for incoming transfer students. I know students who do attend get to have 1 on 1 time with a counselor to plan their classes for fall. Is there a way for me to get some counseling and advice on my schedule?

I also have a question about the placement exams. It says on the orientation websites that placements exams are only necessary for calculus, chemistry, foreign language, and english. I’m a computer science major, so I already finished calculus 1 - 3, and I took 2 semesters of college english. I’m not sure if I need to take another semester of english, but if I do would I need to take the english placement exam?

There is makeup orientation during Welcome Week before classes start. And all students must take the entry writing exam unless they meet [the requirements](http://entrylevelwriting.ucdavis.edu/frequently-asked-questions) to skip it. Some colleges even require upper division writing, but you don’t need to take a placement test to take upper division writing classes, and you can even opt out of taking upper division writing courses by passing the upper division writing exam (you can’t take this unless you have upper division standing).

Oh that’s nice that I would still get to go to orientation, but I’ll already have registered for classes by that time, so it seems like I can’t take advantage of the 1 on 1 counseling.

For the writing exam, I believe I already met this requirement:

a grade of C or better in an acceptable college course in English composition at an accredited U.S. college or university

I took English Composition 1A and 1B at my cc, which is UWRITING 1 and ENGLISH 3 at UCD respectively.

It looks like for the College of Letters and Sciences, I would need to take a course from UWP1, UWP2, or UWP4. I don’t need to take the placement test to take this correct?

Nope, you don’t need to take the placement test.
