Orientation Question

Well I have been accepted to UCD off the waitlist and have a few questions.
Do you think parents should come to orientation?

I was accepted into the College of Engineering and have my orientation on August 7th, will this have an effect on the classes I have to sign up for? I read that you should take the earliest orientation so you can get first pick on classes but for Davis they had a system where the date depends on the college you were admitted so wasn’t sure what this would do.

What do I need to bring to orientation?

Thanks
FutureEEMajor

also are freshmen housing contract even out?

i read the orientation stuff and i said that i doesn’t affect what classes you get. and davis will send you an email a few days after may 6 about housing

Your orientation date most definitely does not affect your ability to get classes.

^thanks for a fast reply :D

Housing is suppose to come out in early May… so I’m guessing next week, maybe.

Hey FutureEEMajor, for Santa Cruz, were you able to find a way to cancel your SIR?

^Not yet I sent them an email
hopefully by tomorrow they reply if not I’ll call them.
I want to get this SIR business cleared this week.

^ Alright, I did the same as well!

Yeah, I am hoping to clear it up as soon as possible, though it was a bit inconvenient that UCSC didn’t just have a button to cancel your SIR!

For orientation, can you only take one placement exam? The schedule makes it seem like you must choose chemistry or foreign language…

From the schedule it looks like you only have time to take one placement exam. I also read on the website that now you take the math placement exam online [UC Davis Math: Math Placement](Math Placement :: math.ucdavis.edu)

Yes, you have to choose either chemistry or foreign language. What I did is when school started up I went to the basement of Olson hall where they do the tests, and i just walked in and took the test. Took like 15 minutes and I got placed into german 21. It’s not much of an issue really

When school started? Wouldn’t you have registered for classes by then? So, did you just wait to take German until later in the year?

oh yeah, haha, i didn’t take german fall quarter. but it’s not like you can’t switch into/out of classes once school has started. and i don’t think french is impacted at all
