Three of my used tea bags.... GUAAAAAAN!

Look at my LEAVES!

(Tableaux vivants)

..... I just can't take any more disappointment.

You have really solid stats, pretty similar to mine and I was deferred Early action. I think you have a decent shot, but Georgetown is so unpredictable! Best of luck!

Looks good... Where are you from?

Southern California

def way better than average shot but also def far from certain

Your stats are pretty good but it's clear you are not confident in math. :)

You'll know soon enough.....

Well, I would agree with you based on my standardized tests, but I've only ever received below an A one semester out of all my years of advanced math. Not that is really matters, I'm just defending myself for some reason and now I feel like I'm rambling so I'll just stop.

Just stop.

... and you know what? He is confident in math so why don't ya'll just have a QUIYIZZ!

The math's fine. He got an 800 on CR and that's much more important for Georgetown.

the 800 in reading is fairly impressive, however the straight As in math + 640 screams "Very Easy School!" I think your class rank gives you a good shot though, good luck.

Also, does anyone know when we find out??

^^Not when you consider that these math classes were for the most part AP/IB, which I would assume have a fairly consistent curriculum no matter what school you're in. I also believe that its no secret that the SAT math score is not the be-all-end-all indicator of a person's math skills, IMHO of course.

Gtown mails letters so that you get them by the 1st of April.

I got in EA and I got my letter several days before Dec 15th, but it may depend on your geographical location.

Seriously, he is the WRONG ONE. FOR REAL.

One test is rather meaningless in determining your ability to perform in an entire subject area... Someone is placing waaaaay too much value on the SAT. Now wouldn't the collegeboard be proud of you?

Thanks. Thanks a lot, Branyon. It's not like I want to major in anything that involves super crazy I-don't-even-care/want/ever need to think about/ever need to know math skills.

I don't place too much emphasis on the SAT, and I don't think its the greatest indicator of math ability. In fact, I think its easy enough tht someone who is not very good at math can get an 800 hahah. and dude no need to get defensive; you have a very good overall resume and a solid shot of getting in.

Clarification seems necessary: Confidence is not the same as ability. Had I said, "it's clear you suck at math," then there would be legitimate argument to dicuss the merits of the SAT or any standardized test - which, by the way, AP tests are standardized as well. Some teachers ONLY teach to the test which 1) gets you an easier A and 2) gives you a pretty good shot at a 5 on the exam. Some, however, actually teach Calc AB or BC as it would be taught at a true college level. You get neither an easy A or an assured 5.

to be clear then: Confidence is a very different than than actual intelligence. And I said it looks like.. not that it was point of fact.

This said, I will agree that the CR is much more relevant to college success than the math, AND... the SAT only tests through Algebra II, so if you are an advanced student it is highly likely you took Alg II some time ago (at our kids' school, that's in 9th grade).

In a nutshell: Take a chill. I don't get the defensiveness or the rush to support his application. Why do people even put up chance me threads when all they're willing to accept is "you're perfect" "you're a shoe-in" or otherwise positive response from people who have no clue what GTown would be looking for by the time they get to your application? It makes no sense to me whatsoever. Frankly, if all you want is positive feedback with no doubt whatsoever, you should only ask your Mother. :)

I really do appreciate everybody's feedback and I know what everybody is trying to say. My original intent to somewhat defend myself morphed into having fun with Branyon because we know each other and we were just using our humor from school to mess around a little bit during this incredibly stressful time. Sorry if that wasn't clear ;-)

cough... I personally think it's just weird for parents to be involved on this site...

And, ya'll need to calm yourselves. Honestly.
