Only a few more days until the EA notification date! Boy, January sure dragged on. Who else is out there waiting to hear on EA?

D is waiting - she is on her way to Costa Rico for a mission trip and I am stuck home watching the mailbox in a blizzard. We have seen some paperwork that states you hear by Feb 1, then we were given the date of BY Feb 15. Now on the Hillsdale Admissions Facebook page a question about notification was answered as follows "Notification is MAILED on Feb 15 and to watch the mailbox AFTER that date.

Yuck!

I had the same confusion over the notification dates 2/1 or 2/15. All you can do is wait!

My d is waiting, too. Not happy to read that wording, “mailed ON February 15.” I thought I had read “BY February 15” on their website.

Oh, well, not too much longer, but the waiting sure is hard, isn’t it?

Did anyone else receive a fat envelope from Hillsdale today?
We did - it was the long awaited … Annual Fund Drive and Survey.
We were all excited and then very let down. Oh well, keep watching

Wow, that’s not nice at all! Hang in there, though. Just a couple more weeks. :)

For those of you who absolutely cannot stand to wait a minute longer, might I suggest you call your admission counselor? My d did and he gave her the news in a conversation that went something like this:

Dtr: Oh, Mr. S, I am absolutely dying to know. Can’t you p.l.e.a.s.e tell me??

Mr S: Well, I really cannot.

Dtr: How about this? Should I go out now and buy a car with the money that would have gone to my Hillsdale tuition, or should I keep it in the bank until YOU request it in August.

Mr S: Well, I might suggest you keep that money in the bank since you’ll need it in August.

Dtr: REALLY? Do you REALLY MEAN IT?

Mr S: See you in August.

Dtr: YIPPEE!

I hope all of you can have a fun conversation like that.

Congrats to your D, Fencersmother!

Thanks, fencersmother, and not to appear overly confident, but the acceptance isn’t what we’re so anxious to see, it’s the scholarship info. I’m not sure that’s something they’d reveal early, and I KNOW my d would never ask. She’s more patient than I am, and just reminded me this afternoon that it’s “only one more week.” To me, that seems an eternity!

In theory, the anticipation of the white envelope in the mailbox is exciting - but an email in my D’s inbox TODAY would be better!!!

They let you know by email?

D has received notifications from other schools via email/text/telephone. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ve seen that Hillsdale uses any of those methods. I wish they did!

Fwiw…my d has 4 acceptances so far to small LACs, and they all have notified exclusively by mail. No phone/email. Actually, she prefers it this way. There’s something about seeing that fat envelope in the mailbox that can’t be matched. YMMV.

The email was to let her know that she was nominated for a $35K/yr scholarship, so I’ll take that any way they want to send it! The phone calls were to share with her that she rec’d a 26K/yr scholarship and the other to let her know she was a UR Scholars semi-finalist - again, I’ll take those. The text was sent to parents first to tell us the time they would be texting her - the school wanted us to take a photo and catch her reaction - pretty cool.
2 more acceptances came via mail and they were just as nice.
IMHO it’s been exciting any way we hear it!

D called Hillsdale to ask if they would like a copy of the National Merit Finalist Certificate that just arrived in the mail and by the way would they be able to tell if she was accepted. They were not able to tell me if she was accepted but they did say she would know BY Tuesday. They also said they thought D did very well because she has a very strong application.
- Very encouraging, but the package will be the important item for our family.

Did they want a copy of the NMF certificate? I was not going to bother notifying the schools about that or my Presidential Scholar nomination. It would be too late for it to make a difference to Hillsdale at this point for EA, I would think.

They said to fax a copy of the certificate to them. I would think it is only for record keeping purposes - for us it was just an excuse to call and ask about acceptance.
