Has anyone successfully worked to get enough money to go to school, having little to nothing to start with?

Where I'm going is $20,000 a year, my parents don't think they have good enough credit to get a loan (we'll find out). So that's $7000 a quarter, and I should get the max. direct loan of $6625. I've done the numbers and if I can get decent work (I can do computer stuff so that helps) I should be able to do it if I work part-time in school as well. I just want to know whether or not this is feasible, cause from this board it would seem that not many people are taking this route.

i'm in your exact same position and taking your route. i'm not sure how i'm going to make up for all the money i'm borrowing. i'm going to try my best to work-study on campus and work during my summers. i also plan on deferring whatever loans i cannot pay right away till after i complete college. than live frugal for the first couple years out of college...

I worked part time while I was in school, and also worked up to 60 hours a week during the summers. During school breaks, I'd work temporary jobs fulltime. I also had a loan, scholarship and got some money from my mom.

I don't suggest taking out more than $20,000 in loans for 4 years. Over that would really impact your options after college graduation.
