Not sure about qualifying for finalist

On the PSAT in the fall I got an index score of 217 and I’m pretty sure that reaches the semifinalist requirement in FL. However, I’m not so sure I can become a finalist. I’ve had mostly A’s and B’s, but I had 3 C+'s(each 1 sem) over the course of high school in ap chem, spanish IV H, and calculus H (I later raised them up). I do think I can fulfill all the other requirements like the leadership/extracuricculars, but I’m mainly concerned about the grades. To my knowledge about 15,000/16,000 who apply become finalist. Thanks for any input.

I forgot to mention I got a 1470/1600 on the new SAT so that should meet that requirement.

Transcripts generally report your FINAL grade in each class. A low grade for one semester is not going to matter.

^ Every school reports grades differently. My D’s school reports grades on a semester basis.

My school reports final grades based off semesters. So 2 semesters for each grade

What were your other semester grades for those classes?

Well calculus H went to a B+ second semester. AP Chem went to a B- second semester(ended getting a 4 on exam though). Spanish IV H went to a B- second semester.

Find out what your school reports…only a year end grade? Or semester grades.

I already answered that above in a reply. They report two semester grades for each class

It doesn’t cost you anything to complete the application

And make sure you write the essay. A lot of potential finalists lose out because they didn’t do the final essay.
