Not sure what housing options I should be looking at?

Ok, so I am not even sure if I will be attending USC, but right now I am definitely leaning towards it.

I made it into the Honors College, so I have the Honors housing option. However, I am not sure if I want to live in the honors dorm, I am a little scared it will be too quiet. I'd like quiet time to study and all that, but I wouldn't mind living in an "animal house" type dorm.

I am also interested in joining a frat, but not until soph. year or second semester fr. year.

But, I don't want to come off as a complete 24/7 party animal, I'm really not. I'd just like to have a little bit of fun, high school was just full steam ahead, hardly anytime for play. I still want to be challenged and focused on my studies, but I don't want to be a machine that studies 24/7.

So, I am not sure if the honors dorm is for me. Suites sound nice though.

I plan on majoring in IB/Finance or maybe accounting. I am also out of state, so it is important that I pick a good dorm, at least I think so.

Are there dorms where there is an honors wing or honors floor? I wouldn't mind that, kind of get the best of both world.

Any recommendations? Not sure if I would like a living-learning community. IDK what, it just doesn't seem that diverse. Of course, I'm probably wrong about that, but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

The kids I know in the honors dorm love the size and amenities (location etc.) of the honors dorm but dont really fit in with the people in that dorm. Id recommend capstone or columbia to get the best experience

Ok thank you. Are those known as social/party dorms, or do they have really good balance? Not looking for a 24/7 party, but I don’t want to live in a library either!

thank you!

I’d go with the honors residence over any of the others. The only drawback is that it is on the edge of campus, but it is right near the Strom and has a shuttle stop right near it if you don’t want to walk across campus for some reason. The honors dorm is definitely not like a library and there is some partying going on there. I think some years are more social than others and it just depends on the students that happen to be in your class. Several years ago the honors dorm was certainly known for some wild parties(this was when the dorm was Maxcy), but if that same group of students were freshmen today the new dorm would also be party central.
Look to see if there is a facebook group of honors students and you can judge for yourself whether or not you think you’ll fit in with this years class.
