Hi, I'm not yet sure whether I want to be a Math major or a comp sci major at CMU. How possible is it to apply as one, and then transfer to another if I were to get in?

You should apply to both, in case you get in one and not the other, and once you’re here, take a few classes and decide. Honestly, CS requires a bunch of math courses anyway, so as long as you’re taking math in the beginning, you won’t be losing much time by switching later on.

From what I’ve heard, transferring from SCS -> MCS isn’t hard at all. Going from MCS -> SCS is harder, but not that difficult (a lot of people have done it).

You should know that math and CS have a lot of overlap at CMU. If you’re majoring in math, a 2nd major in CS would only required 5 courses. Math+CS is fairly easy to do in 4 years.
