Does not taking an AP test greatly hurt ones chances? I am in a Computer Science A class, but my teacher is completely incompetent. He told us that out of his usual class of 30, only 5 pass with 3s! What should I do?

BTW, interested in applying to Yale, Columbia, and similar schools.

Well, the AP Exams are in May, which should be long after you were accepted. I don't see them turning around the decision because you chose not to take the AP tests.

I'm not really good at Computer Science. I guess I could self-study, but if I don't take the test, would it be a big red flag on my application?

What I understand is that APs don't really count that much in applications. They can help, but they don't necessarily hurt your chances if they are poor or nonexistent. (Well... I'm really just repeating what others have said. I really don't see how if you earned a 1 on a test it wouldn't hurt your chances. :p)
