Are there schools out there for kids with 2.3 gpa's, no AP classes, 1220 on SATs, but has such a strong work ethic, consistent, never misses a class, always at school functions, always smiling and never has a teacher met me without saying how great my child is.... In researching, I am getting so discouraged.

west virginia maybe

State or University? Thanks!

Conniehv40 - What state do you live in? The state might give insight into public colleges that might be worth looking at.

If that is 1220 out of 1600, and if there is an upward trend in his or her grades, then check out the Colleges That Change Lives web site.

True–I have also heard bigger schools have more special services-so I will look into that!

Funny, I just found this website and have heard this resource Colleges that changes lives throughout these posts-I will go get that book!

By “special services”, is there anything in particular you are looking for?
What is your kid interested in studying?
How much can you afford to pay?
What part of the country might your kid be interested in, in addition to your home state?
It would help if we knew your state of residence.

You might want to play around a little bit with some of the options at the [College Navigator - National Center for Education Statistics](College Navigator - National Center for Education Statistics) tool.

Long story-made short. I am in MA, looking for a good school (she loves Rollins in FL, Providence Coll in RI), but she had a 1.89 in Freshman and after having to prove to the school, not once, but twice she had dyslexia, it took until Sophomore year to get some assistance. Since then, she went up a level in classes from a 2 to a 1 level and 1.89 to 2.3. Her SATs were 1220 out of 2400–She doesn’t want to be just going to a school for learning disabilities…Just a kid that all parents/teachers love and I think would be an added benefit to a school

I will go through the info you added–college navigator etc.
