Notification of UFE

Fingers crossed for all of you!

rocket: Yeah! This is my fifth year (started in the 8th grade) as a policy debater so it’s almost second nature now. How’s PF? I’ve never seen that form here; everyone in the south is mostly policy, LD, or one of the IEs.

PF is the love child between LD and Policy. It’s very facts and data driven like Policy, but also has ALOT of room for analysis like LD. It’s a short debate(total time less than 40 minutes) with no burdens or anything…I like it alot

Policy facinates me. Our coach won’t let us do it…but it looks super crazy

You ladies impress the heck out of me! :)

Speaking up for the boys here. Both my son and his best friend were semifinalists and had their phone interviews. Both very excited about attending Bama.

Montegut…

I didn’t know your son’s best friend is going to Bama.

Are they going to room together?

I know another nice and smart young man that also wants honors suitemates that don’t smoke.

My daughter had her phone interview this past Thursday evening; will post when she hears back.

Look forward to hearing how it goes for all of you!

:)

I hope that when they said “within a week” they mean closer to today, tomorrow or wednesday…I know it will probably be thursday or friday…but I’d love to know!

Mike, did you get an answer as to how many applied to CBH this year?

About 130 students applied to CBHP this year.

Exact number - 155 students applied to CBH this year.

For this reason, I think that UFE’s apps are probably in the 200-350 range tops.

I’m starting to get nervous to hear about Finalist status …my fingernails are a mess

stop picking at your nails…mom’s orders. LOL

:)

mom2 -
DS will be looking for honors suitemates - non smoking

^^^ Thanks! I’ll pass on the info!

I know that all of the buildings are non-smoking, but some want to be sure to have suitemates that don’t smoke even outside. I can understand that, because they don’t want the smell brought back into the suite, and likely, they want to have friendships with their suitemates, and it might be hard to do activities with friends who smoke.

I wonder what percentage of honors kids smoke? I would imagine that it’s low. I don’t mean to offend any smokers, but smoking has become less common among those who go to college. No offense to anyone. :)

^^none taken mom2…although I will admit to being a social smoker(I’m in theatre…everyone is)

and I stopped picking at my fingernails…

Okay, I’m starting to get really prickly. I don’t do well with waiting, especially since I applied to both CBH and Fellows. I didn’t get a phone interview, but I don’t understand why it takes two weeks beyond that to notify the rejects. I mean, how hard is a mass email? I don’t mean to sound bitter; I’m just really anxious!

^^I’m sure we’ll all hear soon

me too manatee.

What happens with the students who applied for both the UFE and the CBHP? Does the pool for the CBHP shrink as people are selected for UFE? I find it difficult to believe that anyone participates in both. If you are selected for both do they let you know the financial (sholarship) implications of each choice? I know that people qualifying for both will be rare, but in the end it could help some candidates in each pool. Thoughts?
