I wonder if UFE kids helped with the envelopes, so some got notes and some didn’t.

Keep in mind that there are other leadership opportunities at UA :)

If they did have 100 phone interviews with such qualified and high stats kids, it makes sense that some very qualfied kids won’t make it to the final round - unfortunately.

I wouldn’t have wanted to have to figure out which 40 kids (out of the 100) weren’t going to be invited to the campus interview. too hard!

so, there are 60 finalists then?

That’s OK Mike, I want the best for your daughter! if you’d like I can put it in writing :)

ha ha!

: )

I’m guessing that there are 60 finalists, because that’s what they do for CBH. However, not all show up for the weekend, a few will have conflicts or whatever, and will interview at another time.

On the other hand, I can see UFE only inviting about 40-50 finalists, because it does the phone interview, while CBH does not.

Bad postal mail day for my student yesterday. Did not make finalist for UFE after phone interview, did not make finalist for another U fellows program, deferred from another top university (friend with significantly lower stats accepted). Had to go out for tacos and ice cream at a couple of local favorite places. Could have been balanced a little by two honors college acceptances…BUT - from schools already crossed off the list. I think just being a UFE finalist would have sealed the deal, now we’ll wait to see what else comes in the mail over the next 6 weeks.

There are 60 finalists…

After I got my finalist notification, I got an email that began as follows…

"Dear Finalists,

Let me begin by congratulating each of you on your status as a Finalist for the University Fellows Experience! From over 500 applicants, you are one of sixty selected for your distinguished and evidential commitment to service and leadership…"

Congrats to lovekaseyy!!!

I have a dilemma and would value some opinions. I am both a UFE and CBHP finalist and am planning to attend both orientations. However, I have another college interview that on the 20th. How important is it to attend the visiting days? If I just attend the CBHP days would that hurt my chances for UFE?

They’re pretty good about understanding. In previous years, the kids that were “double finalists” often just came for CBH…or just came for UFE…and arranged to interview for both on “interview day.”

Contact UFE and ask if you can arrive for CBH on Sunday and be interviewed for both on Monday.

when and how were you notified about CBHP? Our son was told they were mailing out letters last friday…did you also get notified via mybama?

If you check the Crimson mail on MyBama, there should be a letter.

There’s a Crimson email icon on the upper right corner of MyBama. Click on that.

There was an announcement that all communication would be thru email. Don’t know if any snail mail will be used.

Thanks Mom2 - I tried to reply to your PM but I’m not sure it went through.

I got it and responded :)

I guess this is as appropriate a place as any, but really wanted to say how grateful we are that son got to interview for the UFE. He got to talk to a student and learned even more about Bama. It has “sealed the deal” that he will be going to Bama. We are thrilled that he will get to go to CBHP weekend, as he’ll get to meet even more future and current students, and get even more of the sense of family that he’s already gotten at the university.

Thought I’d bump this thread back up as we should be hearing soon on whether or not we got into the Fellows Program…

I’m hoping it’s sooner rather than later :D

Indeed, does anyone know when the notifications of acceptance…or rejection mail out?

I believe they said 2 to 3 weeks we should know…and It’s been a week…so hopefully soon!!!
