I applied and was accepted this year (even though ND was my reach/dream school) and I would just like to tell you all that you really should consider getting in touch with your area rep if you haven’t already. I had several email exchanges with mine (Alyssa Moya in the Southern California region), and I truly believe that made a huge difference with my application. If you have personal circumstances that were a factor in low grades or whatever, don’t hesitate to send them an email about it. (But don’t make it sound like you’re having a pity party, obviously.) I have some “trouble spots” (to put it nicely) on my transcript because of a death in the family, so I included an explanation of that. It’s not an excuse, but it does explain why someone who usually has good grades might have a few areas of concern. Good luck to all of you guys applying and feel free to message me if you have any questions! Hope to see you all at ND in the future!

I got an ND Viewbook in the mail today!! ^_^

I agree with everyone about reaching out to your regional rep, however you should be fine without it. ND wasn’t my first choice school and I’m not saying this to be rude or anything. I had just pictured myself in a more urban area. The point is that I didn’t have one-on-one communication with anyone from the school until much later. Nonetheless, I was accepted. Make your application interesting (sorry to repeat what you’ve probably been hearing from everyone.) Make it memorable. I’m Hispanic and I used a few Spanish phrases in my main essay. This helped get me an invite to Spring Viz (annual weekend where selected students are invited to the campus with all expenses paid, including airfare.) There I met Gilbert Martinez, also my regional rep, and was able to ask about how kids are chosen to attend. He said the 130-150 kids there had interesting applications and somehow people on the admission board remembered them. So charm them. Your GPA and test scores can only take you so far. The rest has to be done with personality and wit. Good luck! (About to start at ND as a freshman next month)

I’d just like to let all the people applying for the 2014-2015 year know that the questions for the supplement have been released and can be found at admissions.nd.edu/admission-and-application/supplement .

Good luck to all of you, and feel free to message me if you have any questions! Go Irish!

This is a little late to the conversation but I applied EA to ND. It’s my #1 but I never contacted my regional rep! Is it too late to do so? I simply didn’t have any questions since my dad went to ND and could answer most of my questions. If I were to email my regional rep now, what could I say to express interest? Or is it too late to do so?

Don’t worry about it. I have had 3 sons get accepted into Notre Dame and they did not contact their Regional Rep. The Regional Rep is a resource for the applicant if he/she decides to use them as such but they do not have any influence on the admissions process.
