Hi all! So I’m super nervous because I’ve finally applied to University of Notre Dame, which has been my dream school since birth (my dad went there on a track and field scholarship). So it’s my senior year and I applied regular decision and I just want to know what you think; if I really have any shot at getting in.
Major: biology/pre-vet
Come from public school - outside of my high school district, however, because I’m in an engineering magnet program.
Sat: 590 reading and 730 math (old sat, so 650 writing)
ACT: 31 math and 35 in reading; 31 composite
GPA: 4.0UW/4.6W
AP: 4 in Lang and Calculus; 3 in APUSH and Spanish Language and Culture. Taking AP Lit, Spanish Literature and Composition, Computer science, psychology, and macroeconomics this year.
Tons of volunteer work; catechist at church, humane society vet tech, ran a track program for Township (Coach of that), helped create Athletes and the Wonders: a group designed to get children with special needs active and for them to coalesce with varsity athletes in school, food bank, etc.
Captain of cross country team (2015 and 2016), president of key club, former secretary of key club, committee head in Student Council, council member for National Honors Society, member of Spanish honor society, first chair oboist, committee head of Stand Up and Rebel - a group that advocates the prevention of substance abuse, competitor in state championship for running (cross country or 3200m in track) since freshman year, etc.
Forgive me if I forget anything. What do you all think?
What is your gpa? Test scores will make it difficult for you to get in
4.0 unweighted and 4.6 weighted. I’m hoping my GPA and class rank will make up for my scores since I don’t test well
Hard to say. You didn’t send your SAT scores to Notre Dame did you? Your ACT is low for Notre Dame
Your GPA is good but test scores are low and test scores are for some reason really important to nd which sucks (i applied rd with a 30 act and im not expecting to get in)
…wait a minute, you are a legacy and it’s been your dream and you applied RD? Why? Also why so late…2/20?
^^ isn’t it a lot harder to get in for everyone regardless of legacy for rea? @Seacoast
@mimimo7890 I had roughly the same stats and applied rea. Nothing was going to change but volunteering and articles for basketball. Sadly I was deferred which put me into rd. I was told if you can’t better yourself go early and if they like you they will defer you. I guess they liked me and haven’t decided if they love me. I’m a lovable guy too. hahaha
My guidance counselor called the ND admissions office and they said without a doubt, I’d be rejected REA because they’re more conservative with who they pick and my test scores were too low. They said I have much higher chances applying RD, so I just waited until then. And 2/20, yeah, I’ve let my thoughts overcome me until I finally snapped and wanted to see what others thought.
@Mcrunner…gotta say I’m so surprised…you are a really really good candidate. Well we will all know soon did you get the email for the email to the portal? Hang in there!!!
@Seacoast Thank you! I appreciate it and yes, I already activated my portal and just keep checking, haha! Time will tell now, fingers crossed!
@Seacoast I got waitlisted. What about you???
