Hi guys,

I heard that Notre Dame places a little bit more of a premium on very good SAT scores than other top universities. Is it true that with a very high (>2350) SAT score, assuming you also have good grades and extracurriculars at a top parochial school but nothing absolutely OUTSTANDING, that you have a more than likely shot to get in?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve heard the same, but nothing official, of course. Since so many ND students go to parochial schools with very different levels of teaching, maybe the SAT/ACT gives them a national standard to use rather than just GPA. My GPA was good, not exceptional, but I went to a tough school. My ACT/SAT scores were very strong, tho. They also look for talent in multiple areas and personalities that “fit” ND. This is where your essays are so critical - they really read them and are looking for purpose and focus. That’s where you can really impact your app assuming that all of the other things are within the ND ranges.
