I can go to Notre Dame for about $20k per year... my parents will help with paying for some, but I can't bank on very much. I have $20k in a college account so I will be looking at around $60k in debt when I graduate. However, my sister will no longer be in college my junior and senior year and tuition costs will continue to rise. I plan on working every summer and will be getting a little bit of money from graduation and a few small scholarships. I plan on majoring in business or engineering. I also have an appointment to the Air Force Academy but I'm not sure that's the lifestyle I want.

What can we help you with?

Is is worth it to incur that much undergraduate debt from Notre Dame?

If it were my decision, I would say the AF is the best proposition since you’re so well taken-care of without incurring debt. If you’re unhappy and decide to leave the academy, the academics there are respected enough that you can transfer into ND, which is unusually receptive to transfer students. ND’s programs in those fields will set you up well to pay off that debt with a good career pretty much where you wish. Did you apply to ND’s AFROTC program?
