Notre Dame EA?

I agree with the above post about the unpredictability of getting in EA and it probably varies year to year. But is she gets deferred, I do think she will have a leg up RD. And if she gets outright rejected, she probably would have anyway so she can more on more quickly. I think going EA was the right move. Good luck! This is all such a crap shoot. My daughter is in the same boat!!! There are so many great schools out there!

I hope your daughter, @Isabel2017 , applies - it is 100% guaranteed she will not get in if she doesn’t apply, but she is competitive if she does apply. Maybe she won’t get in, but she should try! Good luck to her!

“Two things come to mind: 1)my son is currently a sophomore at ND. He was admitted EA with 34 ACT/great grades, etc. That being said–he knows plenty of kids at ND that were admitted with ACTs more in the 32 range”

Things don’t necessarily stay the same over time.

Two years ago, ND’s middle 50% for ACT was 32-34. So your son, as ND says they like to do at the REA stage, was in the top quarter of the applicant pool on that metric.

Last year, the ACT range moved up to 33-35. Which is why the ND rep I heard give a speech back in October said she didn’t encourage anyone to apply REA unless they had a 35.

But if your stats/application aren’t going to improve with one more semester, no harm applying REA. You’ll get the same ultimate outcome, but you’ll get some feedback from ND months sooner.

Update: I got in with a 33 ACT

Congrats! See you there!
