Deferred applicants will be considered in the RD pool. Don’t expect to hear earlier.
My deferred daughter just submitted her LOCI tonight. Talk about waiting until the last minute
Best guess for Regular Decisions notification date?
03/25
I know the chances of any merit are very slim…wondering if that window has passed? Has anyone received an invitation?
It is my understanding that students are selected for merit scholarships - they were notified last month and completed a series of online recorded questions. I hear from someone who received a generous award last year that their email informing them of the scholarship arrived on “Ivy Day”. They chose ND over an Ivy in large part because of the scholarship.
D22 received an invitation today so apparently the window is still open. ND website says some invitations will be issued in late February.
Congrats to your daughter!
Hi, if you do not mind sharing stats and was the invitation via email?
Yes, the invitation came by email.
3.9UW, 8 Honors/Advanced (no AP offered), 1510 (one sitting), various EC with multiple leadership roles
Thank you, one more question, if you don’t mind… OOS ? Or in state? My D22 got some bad college news today & we were really hoping for some good ones coming from ND!
Sure, we’re OOS. Sorry to hear about the bad news for your daughter. It’s such a stressful period for everyone. Hopefully it’s just a rough patch with great news to follow in the coming weeks. Best wishes to you all.
Thank you for the kind words, reading your daughters stats does give me hope for mine! We are also OOS. So &&& but who knows! Hopefully they are not done sending emails
Wondering if anyone has received a merit invitation who did not complete the FAFSA form.
Also wondering this and if anyone who was deferred or in regular decision received one?
Fafsa/applying for financial aid is not required for consideration: see the Scholarship link above or on the website and you can read about each one: some are for students with demonstrated need IN ADDITION to impressive academics/leadership, others are have no mention of need–likely determined by the donor group who established the scholarship.
@MomofD2026 : The website says EA and RD applicants are considered. It strikes me as highly unlikely a deferred candidate would be invited as a semifinalist. The ND merit scholarships are small in number and for the top of the applicant pool, whereas a deferred candidate by definition is not at the (holistically assessed) top of the pool. These scholarships are offered to the cream of the crop to lure them away from the many other top acceptances they will likely have. A deferred kiddo could certainly get a top scholarship at a different school–one that likely viewed their candidacy as cream of the crop! Most schools make these decisions holistically so a deferral at one school doesn’t directly relate to any other school’s decision, plus ND lets in plenty of deferred kids in RD so hopefully some of these deferred kids will have good news in March.
Yes, I did read that information on the ND website however, I specifically asked if anyone who did not complete the FAFSA received notification for a merit interview.
Yes my son did
Yes - us too.
Merit interview offers are rolling throughout the entire month of Feb according to NDs merit rep.
