Notre Dame Restrictive Early Action 2022

For those applying regular action, apply as a unique major. if you’re arts and letters, don’t apply as econ. it’s too basic. if you’re business, apply as management or business analytics. You can always switch once you arrive. college admissions is a crap shoot and if you have two even applicants, and they have to accept one and waitlist one, they’re gonna accept the sociology/film/philosophy applicant over the econ/political science applicant . and show interest to admissions. direct message me if you want any more advice, i have a lot of tips that paid off during my ND app process

I know that last year decisions came out on the 12th, has that been the case in previous years? I’ve heard that they are usually released on the Monday of the week of ND’s finals. Can anyone comment on this? Thanks

@syd24ranger Yes, they should be released on Monday the 11th this year.

Ah, Im so anxious. I really hope I can get in, good luck to everyone on the 11th!

Yes, this is the one that will determine whether DS launches a bunch of RD packages. If ND comes through, he’s done. If not, Christmas break will be very busy for him.

If he is qualified but not accepted REA he will be rolled into RD.

I would recommend against gender studies as a major. If you wish to study that area, do it as a minor.
It is not well regarded by employers as it deals more with imposing a strict ideology instead of truly being academic.

Yea, but he’s not counting on an RD decision to go his way if he gets rejected. If he’s not good enough for REA, he’s probably not good enough for RD. There isn’t much difference. He has about 6 other schools tee’d up ready to send.

According to what happened last year, we should get an Email today with out portal information included.

According to Don Bishop, ND’s head of enrollment/admissions… when talking about the Class of 2018 (the class that started at Notre Dame Fall '14), said that “about 900” students were deferred from Early Action to Regular Decision, and “over 100” of the deferrals were accepted in the RD round. He did not get more specific than that, but that would suggest roughly 11% - 13% of deferred applicants earned acceptance in RD. Last year’s REA pool for the Class of 2021 had 893 deferrals, but no stats on how many of those eventually got in.

Does everyone get an email to access the portal or just those who are accepted or deferred?

Has anyone gotten a portal email yet?

Yes, @onlygirlsmom , everyone gets an email. Good luck to all. Every time we hear from S2 we find out a little more about the ND magic.

For those of you waiting for a decision from ND on your REA application, if you are deferred, don’t lose hope. Both of my daughters were deferred in the early round and later accepted. If this happens, and you have any questions about how to approach a deferral, please pm me.

While I would love nothing more than getting a response on my daughter’s application next week, I am highly doubtful it will occur. My daughter called the admissions office today and asked when portal info would be released. They stated that they “expect to send out portal log in information in the next week or so…” No way to get results without a log in… Color me skeptical for 12/11…

@Annie4321, I think every admissions office is trained to give a vague answer like that. But, either way, it won’t be long now.

Just got the email containing my portal information. Next week it is!!!

@veagle18 that’s strange, I haven’t received anything yet…

I received my portal information too.

Nevermind, I just got it.
