Notre Dame Summer Scholars 2010

I just sent in my application to Notre Dame for 2010 Summer Scholars. Has anyone else out there applied? If so, to what tracks?
Does anyone who has attended the program in summers past have feedback? Was it worth doing?

bump! bump! bump!

I applied to Psychology. :)

I applied to Lit and I REALLY hope I get in. Weird coincidence-the initials of my school are XCP too–I go to Xavier College Prep in California. Good luck, I hope we both get in! Not too much longer until we find out :)

I hope you got my response in private message - if not let me know here. Summer Scholars at Notre Dame is a truly fantastic experience for those who are thinking about attending ND as an undergraduate. My oldest Son had a truly life changing experience there last summer in the Life Sciences trac. I will give you all the information I have about this program in this forum if you did not get my private message.

I attended Summer Scholars last year. The experience was truly amazing and is worth every penny. I was part of the public speaking track. I definitely learned much and became familiar with the way college classes are run. Above all I got a glimpse of the college experience. At Summer Scholars I made many friends from throughout the country, got to live in a dorm room for the first time, and was able to eat in the dining hall amongst actual Notre Dame students. The services provided are top notch, the food is excellent, and the coordinators are super friendly. If your child has interest in Notre Dame the program is definitely perfect for them. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.

How intense is the summer scholar program? I was wondering if the program was extremely rigorous or if it was more just for the learning experience. Are the students tested? Do they receive grades at the end of the course?

I went last summer. You won’t be tested or graded, but that doesn’t mean you won’t work hard. For my track, we had to read a 600 page book beforehand, then read it again during our 2 weeks there. So it is more about the learning experience, but can be intense that way.
