November 2008 SAT Subject Test: Math Level 2

^ Check my post, I linked it there. LOL MANUALLY? use the arithmetic sum/225

or do 225/2 then round up.

why round up?

I DISAGREE, i was also pretty sure
Babysitting was DEFINITELY choice D-- (-2x+32.5)/3.5

Was the other question to the probability 5/24 or something?

What question was inverse one?

The 225 one...

The wording was "average of the first 225 POSITIVE INTEGERS"

If zero were included, it would be 112.5, however zero is not positive or negative, so its the average of all integers from 1 to 225 inclusive.

The answer is 113.

Bigweight, based on the number of other questions you don't understand, I wouldnt be so confident. The babysitting question was a BASIC logic problem. The question: If a man made a total of 32.5 dollars; 2 perhour from some job and 3.5/hour from babysitting; how many hours did he babysit as a function of the other job.

(total amount)- (number of hours doing other job * wage of job) = amount made from babysitting / (wage per hour of babysitting)

plugging in... 32.5-2y/3.5 = number of hours babysitting...

^^^it was 5/24 lolilaughed

and the babysitting was also right!!!

For future refrence, are there any programs that allow a TI-89 to store a history of the last 100 or more answers? This would be really helpful in reconstructing these tests :D

well JJJJ^ so far ive only missed 1 on the questions agreed, so if i were u i wouldnt be so sure either

^ I'm pretty sure there is. I skipped the babysitting prob :/

hahaha you just asked several questions a few posts ago hahahaha. and i havent missed any, and this was a very basic problem, so I am sure.

why is my post above bigweights???

What was the probability question (with the answer 5/24?)

I don't remember it.

the marbles one?

the marble question was probability with the answer of 5/24

^ Yes it was. choose blue instead of red so (1-prob)

I disagree with the babysitting question. Can someone post that question?
X = hours
The pets were $2X
the baby sitting was $3.5X
and she totally earned $35?

So, that would be 2X + 3.5X = 35
so, we want to isolate the 2X part
2X = (35 - 3.5X)
X = (35 - 3.5X) / 2

I think this is the answer. Again, if anyone remembers the question, please post it.

oh 1/3(5/8). Yeah that was easy.

I have no idea why there is so much concern over the babysitter question.

You just had to solve the equation 3.5y+2x=35 for y.

y clearly = 32.5-2x/3.5

lolilaughed below me, I agree. Wording was sort of weird, I had to think about it for a few secs and read it over.

^ It was just the wording of the problem confused a lot of us (including me) D:

consolidate a list someone?
=]

AShwin- you made an obvious algebraic error. The man did not work at the pet store and babysit the SAME number of hours; therefore you can not use the same variable for both. Your initial equation should read: 2y + 3.5x = 35.

the way WANTIVY posted it makes it seem completely right, and I agree.

BUT...............i thought it was the same number of hours, not different ones, and ur y was actually the 32.5

but anyways, it just one problem...
