November 2009 CRITICAL READING Discussion

Mifune I got the same answers with “obstinacy” and “admiring”.

i agree with mifune on those! keep the ball rolling guys!

we need more FUEL CELL questions!

I put admiring. obstinacy. Overbearing w/ other composers, beautiful sound, doubtful value (fuel cell)

I didn’t put unequivocal.

i remember admiration and obstinacy.

Oh and I also put unequivocal. Does anybody remember a vocab word “feckless” I had no idea what that word meant on a sentence completion and I bubbled it in for an answer :P

FUEL CELL PEOPLE: What other long reading passages did you have?

@mifune: I also got unequivocal.
@CrazedOutBoy: I think I remember seeing that word, but I put down another answer because I think my answer fit.
One SC question was maladroit I think.

I remember I chose an answer over something about how other composers hate him. I hope that’s overbearing w/ other composers.

why beethoven for bso

sixstring91-

it’s not battery vs gas powered. the context of the comparison was how fuel cells could be used to increase car energy efficiency. the question said what was the PRIMARY PURPOSE of including those lines, and it is NOT to compare battery to gas powered cars.

feckless one was gregarious??

I def. didn’t put unequivocal. Dangit.

tbonus- that one was the conductor was enthusiastic about new work.

@CrazedOutBoy, I put the conductor’s sense of beautiful music as well for dolce.
@Shizzle, I put unequivocal. I don’t remember the question but I think unequivocal was letter A. Not positive though.

Yeah I don’t think feckless was an answer either dammit.

what was question to unequivocal?? …i put like letter (d) or (e)

crazed: feckless was not answer, it was like letter (b)

shizzle, unequivocal was an answer. the author was saying how “THIS FUEL CELL THING IS THE ONLY ANSWER”. therefore, he believes that the answer is clear and that it stands alone

FUEL CELL PEOPLE: What other long reading passages did you have?
…

@tbonus: He thought his music was the best or something; letter C I believe, if that helps.

Yeah, idk. I got that one wrong, but I don’t remember my answer.

I agree about that fuel cell question tho.

Now I remember the feckless question. It was like “(boy’s name) ____ did not come by nature: he stayed at home watching television instead of socializing.”

^ “the boy was not naturally gregarious; he stayed home watching tv instead of socializing with friends”
