November 2009 Math Level 1

Which ones specifically?

Any of them really. I can’t remember the questions, but I was running out of time and had to rush through those ones.

Hmmm…
I actually took the test backwards to get the harder questions out of the way first, so the only one I remember is 50.

Does anyone remember the one about the graphs of the functions? They ALL freaking looked like graphs of a function to me. Was it E (the hyperbolic looking one?)

If anyone has taken it before today, how did this one compare?

Wasn’t one a circle?

But a circle is a function, right? (x-h)sq + (y-k)sq …

…wait, crap.

Yeah, vertical line test.

yea, circle, vertical line test,
the intersection is triangle since its an infinite plane,
1-x
2+sqrt2
1 and 5 for the angles i think

Was the hexagon one 2 sqrt3?

I can’t believe I forgot the vertical line test. I just saw a circle and I went, hey, wait, that’s a function, I know it’s equation. Epic, epic fail.

I got 2rt3 too for the hexagon one. Anyone confirm this?

yes, but i did it by splitting the equilateral triangle by the center,

Yes, the answer to the hexagon question was 2sqrt3 because…
If you fold the outside 3 pieces of the hexagon into the equilateral triangle, it forms the same area of the equilateral triangle, sqrt3. You then just add the two roots.

I thought it was easy for the most part. The two that I skipped were the last one with the square and the two circles, and also the one with the triangle inside of the hexagon.

what the… so the hexagon prob u just have to double the area of the triangle?? I spent like 5 mins on that prob and eventually gave up… anw, what do u guys think about -1 or -2, i think it will be like 770?

Guys- anyone know about the curve for this test?

I did ok on the first 25, but then I did awful on the second 25. I omitted 6, and am expecting to get between 5 and 7 wrong. Score?

Mmm…I totally feel I did better on Math 2 than Math 1. Seems really strange.

The curve is usually harsh on this test. Generally for every -1 you loose 10 points. But it slightly changes.

You can find the SAT II subject tests curves in this post:
