November 2009 Math Level 1

So, how did you guys think the test was? I thought it was only moderately difficult. There were a few problems in the middle of the test that tripped me up but the last few were not that bad.

Some of them were a little tricky. Was the last one 2 + Sqrt 2?

“Was the last one 2 + Sqrt 2?”
That’s what I got, and I’m almost positive that it is right.

What was the answer to the one about the right cylinder and the plane intersecting?

rectangle i believe.

Rectangle or triangle? Because if the plane cuts in through the middle of the cylinder vertically won’t it form a rectangle? Eeks.

Oh my god, 2+ rt2 was a total guess on my part. I can’t believe I might get that correct.

Was the answer to the intersecting squares 1-x?

I thought it was triangle not rectangle. What was the with the two similar triangles that you had to solve for one of the sides?

BTW, was 2+ rt2 choice A?

“Was the answer to the intersecting squares 1-x?”
mmhm

meghan im not sure. if u cut it sideways you can form a triangle i think.

6? I think.

Mmhm? Is that a yes?? 1-x??

Won’t it form an ellipse if you cut it through the side?

Could it be point? I didn’t pick that one, but I’m having my doubts now.

What about the geometry question that had various statements about why the two lines were parallel?

Yes, it was 1-x.

For the geometry one, it was the two angles that weren’t complementary, I don’t remember the letters though.

How do you think the curve is going to be?

It can be a point if it touches just one.

baribone0101, was that the last answer (E)?

I’m not 100% but I think it was C.

1 and 5 were the angles, I think. The underbellied ones.

Does anyone know how many one can usually miss and still get a 750?

It all depends on the curve, but a 750 is around a raw score of 44/45

Thanks for the information baribone0101! I don’t suppose you remember the questions/answers to any more of the questions towards the end of the test (problems 45-50)?
